 The Gulf Drug Establishment has four warehouses with the large storage capacity and well- organized facilities for the distribution of medical goods and equipment to pharmacies, clinics, hospitals, medical establishments and retail outlets. With the steady expansion of its client base and the steady growth of Gulf Drug Establishment, the capacity and number of its warehouses has increased over the years. The group currently has three warehouses in Dubai (Medical/ Pharma/ Consumer) and one warehouse in Abu Dhabi. The company is also expanding its warehousing capacity with an area of 20,000 sq. ft. in 2003. The warehouses are centrally air-conditioned and have facilities of refrigeration for certain medicines and vaccines. Special temperature control chambers are used to stores special items such as baby food products. A qualitative system is in place for the storage, replenishment and the delivery of goods in a timely and professional manner. In the last four years, the storage capacity of the warehouses and their distribution capabilities have been substantially enhanced. In the year 2000, the total storage area was 32,600 sq. ft. The next year it increased to 46,100 sq. ft. By 2002, the storage area had risen to 66,100 sq. ft., a two- fold increase over the area available in 2000. But this figure has risen further to an impressive 81,000 sq. ft. in 2003. Similarly, the distribution of goods has also been given due attention which is evident in the ample number of vehicles at the disposal of the warehouses. In the year 2000, the number of vehicles were six (6) but they have risen to ten (10) in 2003. Undoubtedly, the logistical support of the warehouses form the bedrock on which the group has been able to cater to the growing demands of its clients and has served the vital needs of the end user. |
